Have you ever contemplated your money mindset? I know when I first had a goal of becoming completely financially free I doubted myself. I didn’t even know there WAS something called a money mindset! I was always waiting for the other shoe to drop. I was sure the fashion industry in New York would find out I was a fake and send me back to small town Oregon at any time. I actually was earning an incredible income for someone my age at the time but lived constantly thinking it was all going to disappear at the drop of a hat. Anyone else been there? I tried to say abundance affirmations all day long but it wasn’t until I actually got to the root of WHY I had this mindset that I realized how I could change it. Enter Secrets of the Millionaire Mind by T. Harv Ecker. This book finally helped me realize I was running around with a feeling that there was never enough money ( which was completely the opposite) because of beliefs I had formed in my childhood around money. It was SO eye opening! I highly recommend this book and try to read it yearly.
Here’s what happened next: I started to believe it’s possible to work less yet more effectively. My new business took off. I was able to inspire others to dump their negative money mindsets. Our family created bigger dreams than ever. I”m able to give back more in the form of contribution to causes I believe in.
So why am I telling you all this? Because I sat on a mountaintop in India with a monk( who had a side business selling organic soaps!) many years ago and listened to him tell me that those of us who are capable of earning income have a responsibility to do so. For one, so we don’t become a burden to others. And two, because when we have more we can give more. I had never seen money as so innocent! When I came home from that trip I had a check for $12,000 sitting in my mailbox for a residual buyout of an old modeling job I had done in the past. That was my sign I needed to take his advice and unapologetically spread the word.
Now go read that book! xo
